Task 9: What is your clan's daily routine?
From the moment that the sunrises, patrols begin. The clan sends a sunrise patrol which contains cats that were on hunting patrol the day before while other cats begin to rise. If the cat had been guarding during the night, they are permitted the morning off to rest up.
When the first patrol returns, a morning meeting occurs between the leader, deputy, medicine cat[s] and the patrol to discuss any unusual activity on the territory. If nothing unusual has been discovered, the day begins for the cats.
From sunrise to sunhigh, warrior apprentices are left to do their duties and to help the medicine cats, elders and queens with anything that they need. During this time, cats go out on patrols around the far edges of the territory, making sure no cats who mean harm are on the territory. If the patrols find any cats that don’t mean harm, they are brought to camp to be questioned and given a peace offering. If the any of the cats are mentors, they will bring their apprentice along.
Once sunhigh hits, cats that have no apprentices are the cats that make up patrols, going around the territory. However, if the cat is a mentor, they spend time training their apprentice, either in combat or in hunting. They train until sunset, often swapping between the two activities.
After sunhigh, a group of cats are selected to go to separate parts of the territory and hunt to feed the clan in case the apprentices do not bring anything back.
After sunset, cats return to camp and eat the fresh kill that was caught before resting for the night. Apprentices are not permitted to leave territory during the night, but warriors are made to guard the entrances of the camp, watching out for any foes.
During moonhigh, one last patrol is sent out to patrol around the camp, but they are not expected to cross the river into the larger forest. The purpose is so that loners are made to fear the camp, as though there are still cats of the clan wandering around.
The medicine cats do not have a specific daily routine due to the unexpected nature of their job. If they are to speak to the ancestors, it is done during moonhigh when the camp is most quiet.
