Bluepaw's Naming Ceremony
Bluepaw paced back and forth at the back of the ledge, away from the crowd of cats that were gathering. “Today’s the day,” she kept saying, trying to calm the nerves that were building up.
She took deep breathes, not expecting to be without her mentor at her side as she accepts the title of medicine cat and her name. Bluepaw looked around, realising that all the other apprentices looked moons older than she was as they towered over her. With a sigh, Bluepaw turned back to face ahead, waiting for her name to be called.
When she heard her name called, she walked forward standing beside the leader of the clan, looking to her left where her mentor should have been stood. Angrily, she turned away and looked ahead at the crowd of cats. “Bluepaw has shown herself to be a medicine cat with a lot of promise,” Duskstar announces. “She showed loyalty to the clan, helping reveal the betrayal of the medicine cats of old, leading to the banishment of those who dared to betray our clan.”
Duskstar turns to look at her, flashing her teeth in a grin that appears more intimidating than friendly. “So, as a remembrance of that night, you shall forever be known as Bluemoon.”
As Bluemoon gulped, unable to tear her gaze from the leader, the clan began to chant her new name.
