Task 22: Hero Uniting Their Clan
Hawkthorn stood upon the ledge that was normally reserved for special occasions and clan meetings led by the leader. The clan were watching nervously, fur ragged and torn with mud coating it and brambles snagged in. Thornclan’s numbers were falling and fast, Hawkthorn watched as his clan, his family deserted him for what they believed was the safer option. Now, they were left with the most loyal, the ones who need his help.
“Thistlestar has fallen and Robinsong is gravely injured,” Hawkthorn announced to the clan, wincing as he realised that he had not worded that well. “Today, we are what remains. We have no leader and we have no deputy, but we have each other and we have spirit. Today, we are going to take down Duskstar once and for all, before we lose anyone else.”
The large tabby looked down at his clan who simply looked tired, unable to continue. The twinkle in their eyes and the brightness of their pelt was gone; they had lost all hope. “We need to come together as one clan, not these fractured factions of one clan.”
“We are Thornclan. Let’s show Duskstar and her rogues just what they left behind. Come join me in the most important fight of your life.”
Hawkthorn waited for a moment but the clan simply whispered among themselves, unconvinced by what Hawkthorn had said to them.
“Why should we trust you? You were her mate after all!” One cat yelled and as Hawkthorn scanned over the clan, his eyes landed on the tall grey tabby that stood at the back of the crowd with two other cats.
“I am no longer her mate. As far as I’m concerned, we ended our mateship the day she decided to fake her death and betray us. Plus, if you really don’t want me to lead, I’ll step down. I can give you details you need on her battle techniques and structures but someone else can lead.”
That seemed to satisfy Ashmask who nodded before sitting back down next to his friends. “Hawkthorn shall take us to victory. We don’t have much left in us, and we can’t risk losing anyone else to the rogues so let us take this last fight and win. We only have one last fight in us.”
“Come join me, my friends, for we are Thornclan and we are warriors,” Hawkthorn shouted, holding his head up high as he awaits the response of his clan. Although, he did not have to wait long as a sharp yell of agreement from the clan. “We leave at dawn, prepare yourselves.”
