Personality
Swallownest is one of the largest cats in the clan and as a result, is also one of the strongest. This leads him to having a defensive streak, throwing himself in the line of danger in order to protect the cats that he deems to be weaker than him. However, he does it not to get credit for being brave but to instead protect those who need it. Swallownest does not want cats to get hurt unnecessarily, especially if he feels that he can do something to help the situation. This protective streak is what gives him the courage to fight, making the cats of the clan see him as being one of the bravest cats within the clan.
However, despite being a cat who’s ready to throw himself into a fight, he’s a been described as a gentle giant. The tom is a friendly cat who will try to make friends with every cat, no matter how mean they may be initially. Although, Swallownest does not take well to bullies; if he thinks a cat is a bully, he will challenge the cat out, no matter their relation to him – such as his best friend during their apprenticeship who was not the nicest of cats. Swallownest is a giant sweetheart who just wants cats to feel loved and appreciated.
Despite his fighting technique and popularity in the clan, he is not the smartest of cats and is just a follower, unable to have the tact to be a leader.

History
Swallownest was born to a kittypet who had kits in Thornclan territory. Duskstar took one of the kits in exchange for letting the kittypet and her other kits leave the territory unharmed. He was named Swallowkit because his mother was ‘weak’ and ‘quick to flee’ according to Duskstar. When he was back at Thornclan, he was given a foster mother and grew to love her, but she did not love him back because she had not wanted another kit and simply accepted him as a favour to Duskstar.
As an apprentice, the tom found that it took him longer to learn than the other cats and while the others seemed naturally talented, he had to put in a lot of work to be just as good. Swallowpaw couldn’t make any friends and began to feel very lonely. As he got to the end of his apprenticeship, Sunpaw was made an apprentice and Swallowpaw found the tom frequently bullying the younger cats that had backgrounds that weren’t that much different from his. So, he would put a stop to it, defending those who needed his size as a deterrent. Swallowpaw ended up becoming close friends with those apprentices because they understood each other and they were grateful for him defending them when nobody else would.
However, less than a moon later, Swallowpaw became a warrior, gaining the warrior name Swallownest for his weak nature and inability to think well under pressure. Several moons after becoming a warrior, Thistlestar set him a warrior that he was to watch over because he thought they’d work well together. Swallownest was angry at Sunstorm, remembering how the tom had treated the cats that he called his friends, but he refused to show it. He appeared kind towards Sunstorm but refused to call him a friend.
Swallownest decided to show the tom the same kindness that he showed the other cats of the clan. It wasn’t until Sunstorm tried to sacrifice himself for a young kittypet on the territory when a dog attacked that Swallownest decided to try to be friends with the tom. He would often visit Sunstorm when he was in the medicine den recovering from his wounds. Swallownest watched the tom open up to the other cats and treat others kindly, then deciding that he wanted to be friends.
The tom began to include Sunstorm in other activities that weren’t warrior related, inviting him to hang with his friends. At first, Sunstorm acted distant so Swallownest asked them to try to include him too. Swallownest found himself falling in love with the tom that would pick up kits that tripped, making sure they weren’t hurt and would curl up against cats that were sad, trying to cheer them up with jokes. Swallownest decided to ask Sunstorm to be his mate, and was surprised when the tom agreed.
